Shangla is a district in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan that contains the town of Alpuri the district headquarters and Two main Tehsil Alpuari & Tehsil Puran Three sub tehsils : tehsil Besham, tehsil Chakesar, tehsil Martung.Tehsil Hq of Puran is situated in Aloch. Shangla has the lowest Human Development Index in the province. Shangla, previously a subdivision of Swat district, was upgraded to the status of a district on July 1, 1995[1] by the then Chief Minister Aftab Khan Sherpao.

Shangla is stituated on the boundry of Swat, Bunier & Koistan Distt. Shangla consists two Tehsil Alpurai and Puran. Sub Tehsils of Shangla Distt are Martung, Besham, Chakaser . Shangla is land of natural beauty, long green trees, high mountains, sweet springs, thick forest and streams, was earlier sub-division of Swat District. In 1995 after long movement and endeavors of its people the then Chief Minister of NWFP Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao upgraded it as Distt. The People of Tehsil Puran struggle under the supervison of Pir Muhammad Khan MPA For Puran Sub-divison and succeded. Eng-Ameer Muqam is the Fedral Minsiter from Shangla. Mr. Rahet Hussian is Senitor from shangla.Mr. Pir Muhammad Khan and Hameed Iqbal are MPAs from Shangla.Distt Nazim Of Shangla is Dr.Ibadullah. Tehsil Nazim Of Puarn is Mr.Muhamamd Ali. Nazim Of U.C Aloch Tehsil (Hq) is Muhammad Zahid. There are 28 Union Councils. Alpurai Tehsil consists of 19 Union Councils and Puran Tehsil consists of 9 Union Councils. Besham Bazar & Aloch Bazar is the Commercial place of Shangla. Puran & Shapur is the most beautiful area of Shangla.
